I have been working within the plumbing and heating industry for more than 25 years. I started as an apprentice after leaving secondary school and enrolled in a City & Guilds of London course in plumbing heating and ventilation almost immediately. After 4 years of weekly day release I completed my City & Guilds and passed with distinction.

I began my apprenticeship working for a plumbing and heating company that had started in 1882 and is still operating today. They employed up to 50 people during the 1980’s. I became a site foreman at the age of 20 and carried out reviews and installations of mechanical designs and specifications.

I became increasingly interested in the design and specification of works and went on to be employed by a Building Services Consultancy. I developed designs and specifications and ensured that it was installed to our brief and current bylaws and regulations. I would pass interim claims for the Client, sign off and witness demonstrations of completed works.

I currently own and run a small gas heating company. I am currently a member of the Gas Safe Register, The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering and The Engineering Council as an Engineering Technician. My title is as follows: Leigh Hales, EngTech., LCIBSE., MCIPHE., RRP
